"Are Women Born this way"

So i saw this posted on one of my friends blogs. This is too cute!!!

Baby Fever...or Boat Fever??

So this weekend was so crazy with everything that we were doing. 6 shoots in one weekend was probably the most I have ever had and my body is feelin it today. I spent this weekend with some of the greatest people I know and that is why it is the greatest. I got to see so many people that I have not seen in a while. I was able to spend time with Ms. Wanda Parker and take photos of her precious grandchild. I have always looked up to Wanda and thought of her as a mentor. I got to see Amber Barrett and meet her precious family. It is so awesome to see where we are all ending up and what God has planned for us all. I got to see Kara Fuston who lately I have been seeing a lot more often that usual but I spent an great night with her and one of my best friends in Kindergarten through First Grade, Jessica Hayslip Culpepper. This whole weekend was so special to see all these wonderful people that I have memories with. It was fun to hang out with Kara and Jessica and our families and talk about old times. Never would I thought that I would have "old times" already but it's here and it's wonderful.

This weekend made me think of a lot of things, but the one thing I thought the most about was how we all have been extremely blessed. God works in such wonderful ways. Who he pairs us up with, who he lets in to our lives, the opportunities he allows for us is almost too much to think about. I was thinking about how when Jessica, Kara, and I used to play together as little kids. We never thought about who we were going to marry, what occupations we were going to have (well except Kara knew from the time she was in the womb that she was going to be a teacher), or where we would be. So as I was sitting there with them all Sat. night with our new husbands, new baby Harper, and our wonderful families, I truly feel blessed we have all made a wonderful lives for ourselves with God leading the way.

Here are a few pics from Sat. night. Love you both Kara and Jessica. Felt like nothing had ever changed in all these years.

_MG_0079 by you.
So I guess you are wondering where the title of the post is coming from. I had a shoot this weekend on an awesome cruiser boat with such an awesome family. It looked about like this one.

The Namie Family have the cutest little girl named Peyton.

So between these two things I don't know if I have baby fever or Boat fever....or at this point maybe both. I know we are just newly weds but the idea of a child is getting stronger every day. I know we will wait a while and if we get the urge to get a boat we may do it before the child. But little Peyton stole my heart. We had such a wonderful weekend! Have a great one.

I am a married Woman!!!!

Never have I been so excited in my life. This married stuff is the way to go! Except for all the wonderful presents that we received....I have no where to put them!!!! Trust me I will make room :) We had such a wonderful time at our Wedding in Franklin at Lillie Belles. You can view the pics from our day HERE

Were we so blessed to have been able to take our honeymoon in Maui! Never have I been to such a beautiful place. The water, the waves, and the weather were so perfect. We relaxed and enjoyed a much needed vacation. Andrew and I both have been working so hard these past couple of years to get to this point. And that included not many trips in the meantime. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful husband that works hard and wants the same things out of life that I do as well.

As a newlywed I feel so naive to what life really is right now. With our new marriage has come so many new things. Waking up with the one you love every morning has felt like an endless slumber party with my best friend. I know how important it is to make these feelings that we are both feeling right now last throughout our whole marriage.  It really hit me even harder when I read of such a tragic story of a photographer out of Colorado that I follow. http://blog.amywenzel.com/ Read the Story below. This will make you thankful to wake up every day and know what we are blessed with.

David

I don’t know how to write this so I am just going to begin. Here’s the situtation. The workshop has been cancelled. I said goodbye to the girls at the mixer party and booked the first flight I could get to San Francisco. I’m sitting in a hospital bed with my husband David right now. Yesterday morning I received a phone call from paramedics that David suffered a seizure and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors have found a mass in his brain. We are still waiting for more information and biopsy. They believe it to be cancer at this point. In all of this we believe and trust in our savior Jesus Christ who is not only our source of salvation, but our hope, joy and healer. We are asking that you pray for us. I have specifically asked God to raise a multitude of people to pray for us during this trial. We need strength, clarity of mind for making important decisions regarding his treatment, and we need more faith than we have ever had before. Please pray for David’s complete healing.

David is in good spirits and on the outside seems healthy. I can’t really wrap my head around what is happening. I can only trust God. True to form, David has updated his facebook and his blog with a detailed account of what went down. He can tell it much better than I. I only wish I could have been by his side when it all went down. My friends, we covet your prayers.

Its Here!!!

Last week Andrew and I made a date and went to this awesome pottery place called Third Coast Clay at the Factory in Franklin. We had so much fun!!! I wanted something personalized at the wedding and also something that we would be able to keep so we made this plate that you see below. Though it is not perfect, Andrew and I totally made it together from scratch!

My Dog thinks She's a Cat...

This is my BABY...Abby. I really love her more than any person should love their dog...but I do. I work from home almost everyday because of my job as a photographer so Abby likes to crash on our couch in the office. Well since we have had so much pretty weather, I have been opening the windows to get some fresh air. Abby LOVES to people watch so she will stand on her back legs and put her little paws on the windowsill and look out and occasionally bark at the people passing by. Well on Saturday I had the windows open with the wonderful 70 degree weather we had. Andrew was on his way over and she saw him pull up from the window and she just went crazy so I put her on the windowsill so she could see him better. This has now become her favorite spot to hang out because yesterday she asked to be put back on the sill. Check out the photo for a smile. My crazy dog!

The Guest Book...

I finally found the guest book that I wanted! I know it is kind of silly to be so particular about these things but I love tying everything into a theme, all down to the last little details. I got this at the cutest boutiques in Brentwood, Hot Pink. They have the cutest most girly things ever! So here are some pics of the guest book that I took. Gave ya some detail shots too :) Now if I can only find the perfect pen for the perfect guest book...lol

They finally came in! These are the toasting glasses that Andrew and I will be drinking out of at our wedding. They are so FABULOUS! Kate Spade stemware is just to die for! They have little etched polka dots into the glass. I just love them! We got the fluted ones. I gave you a few pics to look at for the up close and personal. :)

All about the Wedding...

So here is the deal about the wedding. We are getting married at this fabulous location here in Franklin called Lille Belles. It is just off 3rd Ave. and it is an old Victorian Style Tea House. I just love the charm and style that comes with it. In the back is where the wedding will be held as well as the reception. It is a gorgeous garden patio.

These are the center pieces that I picked out for the tables. They are pink peonies and I forgot what the branches are called but they will have little lanterns hanging off of them with tea lights just as the picture shows. This is what I am the most excited about so far. I just love them!
This will be my bouquet. I think it is just so sweet and elegant and I love the yellow crown aster filler.
The bridesmaid dresses that I picked out for all 9 of my girls are from j.crew in the weddings and parties sections. They will be wearing this dress exactly. All my bridesmaids just love them and I really think they will be able to wear them again. I haven't picked out the shoes yet. I am having a hard time with it. I am thinking kinda gold-ish strappy heels...what do you think?
Here is a view of the dress from all angles.
The planning is really coming along...so much to do still though. Our wedding party is pretty big. I have 9 girls and Andrew has 10 guys and we have 2 flower girls. It will be so much fun though. I am so excited. More posts to come soon!

CASA of Davidson County

I will be partaking in this... http://www.casa-nashville.org/

I have donated one of my shoot packages for the silent auction for the Red Shoe Party. This wonderful organization helps neglected and abused children. If you can come to their red shoe party event in April it would be greatly appreciated. All the info is on the website, but if you have any questions contact me and I can direct you on who you need to talk to.

Our Home

In August of last year I was leaving for a trip to Daytona Beach with just my Mom, me, and my awesome little dog Abby. We were heading down the interstate just tooling along when I received a phone call on my cell. It was my realtor calling to tell me that the house that we had made an offer on was accepted! I about drove off the road with excitement. I couldn't believe it! We were going to be getting a home, well it is a condo but you know what I mean. I was so excited because it was just exactly what I wanted. Our home is only 3 years old and is so nice and new with all new appliances. We got such a great deal on it! It is located here in Franklin and for what an apartment cost here it is more economical to buy even though real estate is not the cheapest either here. We closed on Sept. 30th and started moving everything in that next week. Drew is from Brentwood where he lives with his family til we get married but it has been so nice to start all the little projects together and getting it ready for us both to live here in only a little over 3 months. I wanted to post some pics of what some of the rooms look like. It is taking time but we are finally getting there and I know some of you wanted to know what it looked like anyways so here it is...Enjoy!

The Kitchen...

The living room almost fully furnished

This is our Office...my favorite room in the house
Those are the only pics I have taken so far. Please don't judge me on the composition and the editing because I am a photographer. These are just snapshots.... photographers can take snapshots too ya know! :)

Another Beginning...

Ok ok...so I know I already have a blog but I wanted to have a personal one that didn't have anything to do with my business. I tried doing this a few months ago to keep everyone posted about the wedding plans and such but school and everything else got in the way so here it is again. Another thing...I know officially I am not Mrs. Andrew Skaggs yet but I wanted the header to say that so I did :) I am going to post all things about the wedding and our home and our life on here. I think it will be a neat thing to look back on and see what all was going through my head at the time. So sit back and relax and enjoy the up and coming future of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Skaggs!
